About Me• I am a painter, printmaker, and freelance illustrator based out of Columbus, Ohio. I originally grew up in the small town of Bridgeport Ohio. I am currently seeking my BFA at the Columbus College of Art and Design on a full-tuition scholarship, with a Major in Illustration and a Minor in Fine Arts/Printmaking. My Art & Illustration Work • In my leasure I enjoy painting cityscapes. Many of my works in general are influenced by the places I travel to and what sort of atmosphere they posess. I truely love urban life, and just observing the interactions of people with one another. Big cities also harbor a different sort of isolation than that of a small town. I hadn't really been accustomed to this when I was growing up, but I had glimpses of it through my travels. it has become a sort of isolation I from time to time embrace in my work. So many crowded streets, but yet no one knows one another. • I usually work in Oil paint when I do cityscapes, which I have admittedly been doing alot less of these days. For most of my illustrations I prefer to use a variety of wet media like gouache, water color, india ink, and various dyes. I like the texturual qualities I can create using these mediums, and the many layers of information I can present to the viewers. My influences• Early on I had been influenced by artists like Edward Hopper, who focused on the loneliness of big city life. The works of Aubrey Bearsley and other Art Nouveau Illustrators have definetly impact my work and how I compose things and design posters. Many other current artists who I find to be inspiring are on my links page.
